He will always stay as a legend

Since everybody else is giving tribute to the late Michael Jackson, so here goes.

I was never a fan of his. That being said, he was a phenomenal artiste. He had won lots and LOTS of awards, had so many Number 1 hits and most of all, he was a big influence to the stars of the current generation.

Before there was Justin Timberlake, Usher (where is he now anyways?) or even Chris Brown, there was Michael Jackson singing falsettos and moving that smooth groove, complete with his signature crotch-grabbing antics.

Yes, as an individual, he had issues with himself. But then, who doesn't? It's just that he was in the public eye, and everybody wants to know everything about MJ. And sadly enough, people only get more concerned when something bad is written about him.

Whatever it is, I would say that after John Lennon and Elvis Presley, MJ would probably be the best that we ever had. He will always stay as a legend.

And I never knew that MJ converted to Islam last year! When my sister came home today and told me that her ngaji teacher told her that, I was like pfft, what does a ngaji teacher knows about MJ right! But omg, after reading about him on the internet (links after links, I tell you), it is true that he converted last year and his Muslim name is Mikaeel. Wow.

Farrah Fawcett passed away yesterday as well. I find it such a pity that lesser attention is given to her because alot more people are mourning the death of MJ. Really really a pity.

I never knew who Farrah was till recently. She was all over Entertainment Tonight because of her battle against cancer and my parents had to add on that she was one of the original version of Charlie's Angels (I never knew there was an earlier version).

So frankly speaking, I wasn't surprised when I heard about her demise. But yeah, I guess that's also why people are more concerned about MJ's death because none of us saw that coming. People were actually waiting for MJ's anticipated concert which was supposed to be in next month man!

Come to think of it, I think I still haven't fully digested the fact that MJ has passed away (yup, me and my lag time). But yes, I am sad, because afterall we have lost someone great, a king - King of Pop.

~

It has been a year. She would have celebrated her 1 year anniversary if there was anything to be celebrated about.

But no, all she will do is crack her brains and crack her brains. There's nothing much she can do about this issue anyways. Which makes everything so fucked up. Yes, FUCKED UP.

Although she must be disappointed with how things have turned up, she still strongly believes in God (how ironic, she just swore!) and knows that even though one door has closed (slammed in her face, to be exact), another door will open itself.

Yes, that door may not offer anything fantastic, but let's be positive here, atleast it's providing some sort of solution.

Dammit, she's so not looking forward to this year Hari Raya.

Just might be paranoid

Let's talk about Jonas Brothers. Unless you have been living under your bed for the past couple of years, then you should already know by now that this trio has taken the entertainment business by storm.

Yes, the songs are catchy. And yes, the boys are cute (except for Kevin, though I still find him hilarious). One or two years ago, crushing on Nick will be totally illegal because he was still a kid then with a non-guy (verging on girl) voice. Today, the age difference between us is obviously still the same, but you can't help but notice that he is quite yummy-looking now.

Ok, he's not like Josh Duhamel drop-dead gorgeous (that reminds me, I need to watch Transformers), but he's fine. And you can't ignore the fact that he is probably the most talented among the three, despite being the youngest.

So I watched Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday and JoBros performed on it. Ok is it just me or does Joe really doesn't do much on the stage? Oh pardon me, if you consider running around on the stage and pouring water down yourself performing, then well yeah, Joe is The Performer. But come on, he doesn't sing much, probably on the chorus only and he doesn't play any instruments! So what the hell is he doing in the band?!

Nick sings (most part of the song) and plays the guitar. Kevin contributes to the background singing and also plays the guitar. But Joe? He attempts to dance and move around, flirting with screaming girls and sings (screams, to be exact) the occasional "Just might be paranoid".

I guess, the band really needs Joe for one thing - his good looks, though he desperately needs to do something about that hair-do.

A few years down the road when the band breaks up (how long can they go right?), I guess only Nick can probably continue to be a solo artiste. He's multi-talented, he doesn't even need his brothers! And by then, he will be a really fine young man :)

Kevin is probably Nick's secretary or make-up artist (he's slightly gay-ish, don't you think?) and Joe is probably in the media for the wrong reasons. Probably in the making of the next Britney Spears.

How time flies, how people change

My cousin, Aidil, got married yesterday. I always find weddings fun. Afterall, when else do you get to gorge on such awesome food? Even my non-Malay friends agree on that. Ok besides that obvious fact, I guess weddings is also one of the times that the whole big family get together.

As Aidil is my father's nephew, that will mean that I met the entire family from my father's side yesterday. And I must say, it turned out better than I've expected. Ok the day started out horrible, because I had to wake up extra early because the wedding was at Bedok Reservoir, which is an eternity away. Also my father was very enthusiastic about Aidil's wedding for God knows what reason (he's always excited about any family affair anyways).

Upon reaching, things got better, because I got to meet my cousins and those funny uncles who never fail to make me laugh so un-glam-ly. Yep, I sort of missed everybody. OH and I must stress the fact that "everybody" means everybody except for the grandmother of course (don't judge me, you know nothing about her).

Well, besides that painful moment where she asked me to get some desserts for her, thankfully enough, I had no other encounters with her for the rest of yesterday :)

Big families have its perks but I must say I still like having a big family. There's always someone looking out for you, someone whom you can talk (or gossip, your pick) or even someone to goof around with. You rarely see them, but when you do, you can always continue from where you left off the last time (which is probably months ago). Which is somewhat weird actually because here we have friends whom we meet like every other day.

Because I don't meet them often, I can't help but observe that whenever I meet them, somebody just got a baby, or someone is pregnant or the once-upon-a-time cute little boys have grown into young men.

We all grow up. Once upon a (really long) time ago, I played at the playground with Aidil when his sister, Rafidah, was getting married. I remembered playing hide-and-seek with him and I later collided into Hashim and started wailing. And now he's married, and my aunts and uncles are teasing that I'm next (WHAT??!!).

I'm 20 now. Fifteen years ago, when I was still playing with Aidil, 20 years old seems really really faraway and now I'm here. How time flies, how people change. But families, they will always stay by your side.

To the newly weds, Aidil and Faezah, congratulations.

Move over Imran!

This is Tanay Chheda. He's only 12.

But he has acted along the sides of Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. Not only that, this young boy also acted in Slumdog Millionaire, which is such a critically acclaimed movie.

When I watched him on Dus Ka Dum (a game show hosted by Salman Khan), not only is this young star confident and smart, he actually knows what he is talking about and is very mature for his age. Just watching him makes me smile, because I know he is going to have a bright future ahead. And you can't ignore the fact that he is oh so adorable to look at!

I got a feeling that we are going to see lots and lots of him in the near future. His forthcoming movie will be My Name is Khan (omg!) and he will be the younger version of SRK's character (omg!). Apparently he was casted for this movie because he has some sort of resemblance to the King Khan (??!!) and also because of his outstanding performance in SM.

Suddenly I feel like saying "Move over Imran, we've got a new star" but then again, they belong in 2 different generations.

Pyar Dilon Ka Mela

My favourite song for this Salman-Karisma pair.

I was exposed to hindi movies since I can't even remember when, thanks to the mother who was a fan. Those times when kids my age were watching Barney and Friends or Sesame Street, I was watching films starred by the 3 Khans. (Well that doesn't mean I didn't get to watch my cartoons as well. How else do you explain the fact that I memorise the lyrics to those shows?)

I've always thought that Salman and Karisma would make a great pair in real life. They compliment each other so much! And Shah Rukh and Kajol? Don't get me started on that one. I actually believed that those 2 should have gotten married (that was before I found out that Shah Rukh was already married way before he entered the industry).

Yes, I know they are all happy with their respective partners (or so they want us to believe), but I do secretly wish that one day they will all dump their partners and go for each other instead. Yup, totally dramatic but that's what Bollywood is all about anyways.

If that doesn't happen (afterall never say never), I just want Karisma to get back into the industry and work with Salman again! Ok, atleast this one sounds way more plausible.

One happy Shimah

I haven't been online for so long and suddenly I feel so detached from JT's and IK's lives (yes, I never fail to stalk those 2 favourites every time I come online).

It has been one crazy/fun/exciting week and guess what! The week hasn't even ended yet - and I'm quite exhausted already.

Well being exhausted is good! I get a good night sleep nowadays. I don't have to toss and turn on the bed for hours, I don't have to read a boring book and I don't have to call someone to supposedly make me sleepy (which always never work by the way because that just makes me more awake).

So yeah, a Shimah who gets enough sleep is a happy Shimah!

On a really different note altogether, I think Ben & Jerry's is losing all its original essence. It was supposed to be about fun and happy people serving ice-cream to customers and make them feel good (of course they'll feel good, it's B&J ice-cream!).

But now everything's changing and I'm not sure whether it's for the better. Everybody ("everybody" means everybody except the owner) thinks so but nobody dares to voice out (like duh, getting fired is so not a good idea now).

So you either take all the shit in or you quit (which some people have done by the way :( ).

And that's not all. From today onwards, Ben & Jerry's has increased the price for most of the products, which is like WHAT because we are already expensive to begin with.

I tell you, The Happy People Company doesn't consist of happy people anymore. Boo.
